While Erica is a huge proponent of individual psychotherapy, she believes it is imperative to assess and meet the client where they are at based on their current needs. Ultimately, her experience has shown that a multimodal treatment approach which ideally views treatment through the lens of a wide array of perspectives including psychological, biological, social, spiritual, nutrition, physical, and an environmental lens precludes that the likelihood of success will come from a strength-based model. meaning start from the place where you as an individual are the most likely to succeed. Of course, though, it is completely unrealistic that this is knowledge you are just supposed to know. So my belief is why not start where it feels the safest or more comfortable and move outward from there to incorporate a view of yourself from many different types of perspectives and with an individualized program that ebbs and flows with you.

THERAPIST

Erica Ives, M.A., MFT, CEDS is a certified eating disorder specialist and been practicing as a Marriage and Family Therapist for over twenty years. She demonstrates a passionate devotion to this field of healing. Her work as a therapist began with the treatment of adolescents who struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, eating disorders, self-injury and various other self-destructive behaviors predominately as a result of some form of trauma. She sought out extensive training in the area of trauma and its correlation with the development of all types of addiction. Her many years of training continued along this path and developed into her current area of specialties where she has been fortunate enough to gain experience working all along the level of care continuum, which includes residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient. This has led Erica to shy against the rigidity that comes with the same structured framework provided to each individual in the constraints of these programs. Erica founded Mindfulpath, Inc., a healing space encompassed by a variety of treatment professionals, offering a wide array of services, and working as one connected team to provide quality mental health care.
